Plastic surgery should not be seen as a treatment for depression

Yummy Mummy surgery is very popular and the results can really lift a woman’s psyche however, sometimes I wish the press would be more sensitive with their editorial.  This article features a young woman who has had post partum tummy tuck and breast enhancement (by the look of her breasts, most likely a mastopexy/uplift).  She claims she underwent surgery to combat post natal depression….

Depression of any sort needs to be treated carefully by qualified professionals.  It is dangerous to pass on the message that plastic surgery is a cure for depression.  Of course an improved body image can help boost low self esteem issues, but please let’s move away from claims that it beats depression.
