Aqualyx® is a solution that is injected under the skin to dissolve stubborn areas of fat. This effective procedure shrinks double chins and jowls, improving the definition of the jawline.

Aqualyx ® is naturally occurring fat digestion enzymes of deoxycholic acid, used in the emulsification of fats for the absorption in the bowel. It destroys the fat cell lining so the cell breaks down and the debris is then removed by natural body cleaning processes.

The area of fat underneath the chin and the jowls are the most common areas to treat. Any small pockets of fat anywhere on the body: abdomen, below the buttocks, inner and outer thighs, hips, armpits and upper arms.

A photo will be taken of the specific part for your medical records. Your skin is cleaned with antiseptic and the product, mixed with local anaesthesia is injected with a very fine needle. Gentle massage is then applied for a couple of minutes.The treatment begins to work immediately. However, there is swelling for the first few weeks post treatment.You may wish to bring a scarf with you to cover your neck. You’d probably not want to return to work after this treatment, due to the swelling. Many patients have this procedure performed just before the weekend, so they have a couple of days’ downtime before returning to work.The is a degree of skin contraction too, so you’re less likely to end up with loose skin around the areas which have been treated.The size of the area will determine how many sessions are needed. Typically 2-3 sessions are required for a double chin. Treatments are usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

You may experience redness, swelling and bruising at the injection site, which can be particularly prominent under the chin or jowls. However, this varies from patient to patient. Fat reduction is permanent, for the fat cells are destroyed; they don’t come back. Of course, if more weight is gained, then the fatty appearance will return.
